what am I even writing you guys
Jan. 28th, 2012 06:09 amAt Starbucks, Rodney gets a triple venti double-blended extra-whip java chip frappuccino in a trenta cup and John gets some kind of smoothie. (Rodney didn't know Starbucks made smoothies.) They manage to grab a table by the window and spend the first 12 ounces of Rodney's frappuccino avoiding eye contact.
"I realize that overcoming years of US military sponsored repression and general emotional constipation is deeply challenging," Rodney says, stirring in the whipped cream with his straw, "but it might be helpful if you explain just how deep a hole you have dug for yourself. Should I expect fraternal interrogation at gunpoint? Is your ex-wife threatening bodily harm? Are small children going to ask me if I'm your space boyfriend?"
"Confidentiality agreement," John hisses.
"That's never stopped Madison."
John rolls his eyes. "Nancy overheard a conversation I was having with Dave and took it the wrong way, all right? Then Dave told me that, of course, you were welcome to the wedding and I didn't know what to say."
"It's hard when C4 isn't a viable response," Rodney concedes.
"I know it's a pretty big favor."
"Yes, well, you're going to owe me one. And I hope you like Voyager."
John makes a face. "Elizabeth always reminded me of Janeway."
"Hush," Rodney says. "Don't ruin my fantasies."
Why yes, I now have a thousand words of PRETEND BOYFRIENDS, and counting.
Thus far it's mostly:
JOHN: I may have told my ex-wife that you were my date to the wedding and this is pretty awkward but-
RODNEY: Shut up, Janeway is in the bathtub right now.

Jan. 16th, 2012 04:24 pmSo I've basically given up on looking my LJ & DW reading lists until I get back to the US because I don't want to be spoiled for the second and third Sherlock eps. I'm also way behind on Season 8, SAD FACE. If there's anything I absolutely shouldn't miss, please hook me up.
Something YOU absolutely shouldn't miss: the delightful fic that
bruttamabuoni wrote me for this round of
femslash_minis. What Matters features Faith/Tara, sex pollen, Superstar, hilarious euphemisms, and shared demons. Warning for dub con (see: sex pollen). Brutti took my incredibly wacky prompt and turned it into something completely awesome.

with added s'mores (1/1)
Jan. 7th, 2012 02:23 amthere is a canadian shack thing which morally obligated me to write horrifyingly adorable fluff. WHAT IS IT WITH THIS FANDOM MAKING ME WRITE FLUFF? I should be ashamed, y'all. I've sold out. Clearly I need to write something more emotionally tortured and with added bondage.

bruttimabuoni:
femslash_minis is running the first round of the new year. We're getting towards the end of the cycle, which means all the obvious characters and themes have been run, and we're down to oddities. This week, the comm members picked Fandom tropes and cliches for the theme. But only two people have signed up to write so far and I rather fancy writing something for this. So, if you ever fancied trying your hand at writing a quick f/f, how about it? Only 500 words, with a prompt and a chance to specify anything you can't write.

Rilla of Toronto (1/1)
Jan. 1st, 2012 01:10 pmSo. This is the fic I was struggling with SO MUCH that I decided to default to make sure my recipient
catie56 got SOMETHING (and indeed she did - two other awesome stories). I managed to finish it, sitting on
jlh's couch at ass o'clock on Christmas morning before the go-live.
I really did not expect the response it's gotten, and I'm so happy people have been enjoying it!
fandom: Anne of Green Gables
pairings: Rilla Blythe/Kenneth Ford, Walter Blythe/Una Meredith, Jem Blythe/Faith Meredith
characters: Rilla Blythe, Una Meredith, Kenneth Ford
rating: general audiences
words: 1.2k
contains: modern universe AU, epistles, canonical character death
summary: rilla1986: there's always eharmony if I get really desperate
rilla1986: faith and jem are just, you know, sickening
rilla1986: like I'm happy for them but I get that feeling
rilla1986: like when you open a west elm catalogue and know you're going to be stuck with shitty coffee tables from ikea forever
unadostres: You are so not over Ken Ford.
( how anyone did not guess that the modern day Canadian AU with gchat was me, I really don't know )

Dec. 30th, 2011 02:31 pmnow importing all of the old entries + comments from
seasonal_spuffy into
seasonal_spuffy. This will result in some duplicate posts from the last two rounds, but as the goal of the import is to archive both entries and comments, that's not too problematic for me.
I'll make an announcement on both comms when the import is done.
